Accessibility in Gears Tactics

The Coalition is excited to bring a wealth of features to Gears Tactics to provide a usable experience for as many players as possible. The following features can be found in the options menu.

Let the game read to me

Players who would like to have their text chat read aloud can turn Text to Speech on. Any text that is sent through the game chat will be read aloud, so long as it meets the Xbox Community Standards guidelines.

Controller Vibration

This setting gives players the option to turn off controller vibrations.

Show Area of Effect Pulses

Toggle visibility of pulses inside area of effect visuals. Disable this setting if the pulses cause a disorienting feeling. This setting doesn’t affect gameplay.

Color Blind World UI Only

An example of the area of damage effect in purple to help with those who may not be able to see certain colors

Apply the color blind mode to world UI elements only, such as overwatch, and range indicators. This setting requires Color Blind Mode to be set.

Set the colorblind mode. Select between None, Deuteranopia, Tritanopia, Protanopia, and Monochrome.

Captioning

Select between subtitles only and full closed captioning to include some descriptive text.
Captioning includes a backplate to improve contrast and all speakers are identified by name.

Captioning Size

Players can choose to increase or decrease the subtitle size to ensure they’re always easy to read.

Font Size

Players in Gears Tactics can increase or decrease the font size to make it easier to read certain UI text. This feature doesn’t affect all the text in the game, but we are working on improving it for future updates or titles.

Motion Blur

Blur the scene on quick camera movements. Select between Cinematics and Gameplay, Cinematics Only, or Off.

Lens Flare Intensity

Simulate the visual effect produced by bright light sources viewed through a lens.

Lower settings will reduce the intensity of the effect. This requires Bloom to be enabled.

General Settings

Gore

Toggle blood and gore effects in combat.

Mature Content

Toggle mature spoken language.

Cycle Zero AP Units

Allow switching to zero AP units when using select next/select previous commands.
If this option is off, characters with zero AP can still be directly selected.

Start Turn with Primary Weapon

Units that don’t have their primary weapon equipped will switch to their primary weapon when the player’s turn starts.

Character Occlusion

Increase or decrease the visibility of units through other objects in the environment.

Language

Change the game language.

Dynamic Camera Moments

Change the frequency of moments where the camera changes from the static gameplay camera to a dynamic action camera.

Select between Always, Sometimes, and Never.

Invert Camera Rotation

Invert the camera rotation direction.

Camera Movement Speed

Change how sensitive the camera is to movement input.

Camera Rotation Speed

Change how sensitive the camera is to rotation input.

Camera Shake Intensity

Change the intensity of the camera shake moments.
